Dr. Kanramon Watthanasuntorn, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Kanramon “Kara” Watthanasuntorn, MD, is the Medical Director for the Center for Better Aging as well as a board-certified geriatrician and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Watthanasuntorn has over a decade of experience specializing in the care of older adults with complex medical conditions, including frailty, dementia, falls, and urinary incontinence.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Watthanasuntorn focuses on comprehensive geriatrics care, emphasizing safe care transitions and improving quality of life for aging patients. She works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to address both medical and social factors affecting health, aiming to reduce disparities in access and improve outcomes for older adults.

Beyond clinical care, Dr. Watthanasuntorn is dedicated to medical education and curriculum development, helping to train future providers in geriatrics and internal medicine. She is actively involved in advancing geriatric care through clinical research, education, and advocacy for health equity in aging populations.

Originally from Thailand, she earned her medical degree from Prince of Songkla University and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York. She then pursued a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
